Saturday night and Sunday are seeing huge storms, torrential rains and tornadoes in Queensland and northern New South Wales and of course we worry about those people we know who live there.
A Facebook group I belong to has several members in the thick of this storm and the wonders of technology mean that they can check in by SMS or on Facebook to ease the worry that the rest of us are feeling.
When Hurricane Sandy devastated the Jersey Shore in USA I was able to ride out the storm with my friend and share the concern for his home on the Cape and to have instant knowledge of what was happening.
Today I am grateful for the technology that keeps us in touch with those we love and care about.
