Nat King Cole - Autumn Leaves
I am really enjoying these prompts to write and this one is bliss for me - it is about my favourite season of the year.
"Season of mist and mellow fruitfulness."
There is something very special at the end of summer to come to late afternoon and feel something different in the atmosphere - an awareness that there is a slight chill in the air and then the awareness that the days are getting shorter and the shadows are different.
Autumn brings an awareness of change - the leaves start to turn and change colour and places often shaded by trees in summer are now more exposed. I love the river banks in autumn with the long shadows and the leaves fluttering down and falling in the water and spinning and taking off on a journey.
A perfect Autumn day involves walking through a carpet of leaves and feeling them crunch beneath my feet while a cool wind blows and I love to let the leave remain on my lawn as a gift from nature.
I like the changes in routine, the warmer type of meals that are cooked often in the slow cooker - and coming home from walking by the river with roses in my cheeks and walking into a kitchen filled with delicious aromas.
Any day in Autumn is delightful and I love the coloured gowns Mother Nature wears and the crisp and open bright sky at night and the abundance of harvest.
I love it all.
